Hi, I recently bought a Xbox 360 and I'm trying to connect it to my monitor. Everything works fine when I use the HDMI cable on the tv, but no luck when using HDMI to DisplayPort on my monitor. I have tried changing the default source to DisplayPort and everything that I can think of, with no luck. Only thing I get is "No Signal"

I have a HP Compaq LA2306x monitor.

Hi,

Be sure to use 1080p video output from the Xbox.  That resolution may not be possible on some models and some particular content so you might need to fall back to 720p.

You might want to try a HDMI to DVI cable or use a HDMI to DVI adapter instead of using display port.

Did you try the Xbox forum for suggestions when about your issue?

If you should decide to stick with a display port connection then you might need  an active or passive DP to HDMI dongle. I can't say which dongle may or may not work with your particular connection setup.

From displayport.org;

Q: I just purchased a monitor that only has a DisplayPort connection. How can I hook this up to my computer that only has VGA, DVI or HDMI?

A: There is not a cost effective way to do this. The adaptors that are available only work from a DP computer to a VGA, DVI or HDMI monitor and not the other way around. If you have a desktop you can purchase a graphics card with DisplayPort. Our best advice: Before you purchase a DP only monitor make sure you have DP on your computer.

Basically, you can't use the DisplayPort connection on your monitor with ANY device that only has VGA, DVI, or HDMI outputs, without the use of an expensive converter that may not produce acceptable results. Please follow Dave's advice and try to use a HDMI-to-DVI adapter.

Thank you, both of you. I will check the Xbox website aswell, and I'll make sure to buy a HDMI to DVI once I swing by a electronics store, And if that doesn't work, well... I need a new tv anyway. Thank you so much for your reply, was really helpful!
