I JUST BUY A HP COMPAQ 8200 ELITE CMT. IT HAS WINDOWS 7 PROFESSIONAL 32B.

PROBLEM AT BOOTING:

917 - FRONT AUDIO NOT CONNECTED.

V 02.15

F1:BOOT , PRESS THE ESC KEY FOR START ON MENU.

WHAT I DID:

1- INSTALLED NEW DRIVERS FOR ASUS XONAR DG PCI 5.1 ( DOWNLOADED FROM ASUS.COM)

2- INSTALLED AUDIO CARD ASUS XONAR DG PCI 5.1 TO THE COMPUTER DISCONNECTING THE FRONT PANEL AUDIO CABLE FROM THE MOBO, AND CONNECT IT TO THE 9 PIN FP CONNECTOR OF THE ASUS XONAR DG CARD.

3- IN WIN7, ENABLE THE ASUS AUDIO CARD AS DEFAULT IN ALL ITS SERVICES

4- IN WIN7, DISABELED THE ON-BOARD CARD ( DID NOT UNINSTAL DRIVERS FOR THIS ON-BOARD CARD)

5- AT BOOTING I PRESS F10 TO DISABLE THE ON-BOARD CARD, WENT TO ADVANCED MENU, BUT DID NOT FIND THE ON BOARD CARD.

ALL IS WORKING FINE. AND THE FP AUDIO IS WORKING FINE TOO.

THANKS!

Hello Brann,

The message you are seeing is part of the POST. Since the audio cable is not connected to the MOBO this error message is going to trigger and show up.

If you want to disable the F1 message from showing up you can check within your BIOS. The following link will have some information in regards to your computer.
http://goo.gl/nQYH0

1. Press F10 to enter BIOS
2. Navigate to the Advance Tab
3. Power on options
4. Bypass F1 Prompt

You should then be able to boot into Windows without the message.

Hi HardBeatZ

Thanks! but it's still doing the same F1 : Boot

I went to the Bios and the By pass F1 Prompt disabeled, so I enabeled (what more can I do?) press F10 to agree, then save changes, yes.

Re started, but still sending me to the F1 boot

I also tried turning off and waited like a minute and turn on the computer, but the problem is still there.

here is the description of my advanced/power-on options

Post mode: quick boot

Post messages: disabled

Press the start key for start up menu: enabled

After power loss: Power off

Post delay (in seconds): none

Remote wake up source: Local hard drive

System recovery boot support: enabled

Bypass f1 prompt on configuration changes: ENABLED

Is there some thing I'm missing?

Thanks!

Hello Brann,

Unfortunately I'm not sure there is much more you can do. The system is doing that check to see if the audio is connected to the motherboard once it sees it's not, it gives the error.

The resolution is to have the audio connected to the motherboard, obviously though not a resolution for you. Not to say that I could not be mistaken, but I do believe you are stuck with just either dealing with the error, or using onboard audio.
