I have an Elite 8300 SFF that has onboard VGA and a display port.  I also have an AMD Radeon HD7450 vidoe card (came with the PC) with a DVI and a Display port.  Is it possible to use both the video card and the onboard video to setup 3 monitors?  Everything we have tried only allows either the two onboard video adapters or the two video card adapters.

Thank you.

Ian

I have a similar situation with an HP 8300 SFF.

In my case, we have the Matrox P690 video card installed.  If I choose the VGA onboard as the primary boot device in the BIOS and the Matrox as the secondary card, the Matrox driver fails to load with error code 43.  In this case, only the Intel driver is enabled in Computer Management.

If I select the Matrox video card as the primary in the BIOS, when I boot into Windows, my Matrox card is enabled in computer management and I can use two monitors.  But, in this instance, the Intel adapter is enabled and functional in computer management, but I cannot "see" the monitor in the display settings to have three monitors.

Did you ever find a resolution to this? I am attempting the same thing, and as per the docs, I have a 3rd gen Core processor, so all 3 should be active. The only thing I may not match is this:

DisplayPort #1 (top) DisplayPort #2 (bottom) VGA port Result

DP DP VGA All outputs active [1]

DP DP-VGA VGA All outputs active [1]

DP DP-DVI/HDMI VGA Only two displays can be active [2]

DP-VGA DP VGA All outputs active [1]

DP-VGA DP-VGA VGA All outputs active [1]

DP-VGA DP-DVI/HDMI VGA Only two displays can be active [2]

DP-DVI/HDMI DP VGA Only two displays can be active [2]

DP-DVI/HDMI DP-VGA VGA Only two displays can be active [2]

DP-DVI/HDMI DP-DVI/HDMI VGA Only two displays can be active [2]

I am using a DP, DP-DVI, and VGA - based on that chart, I can only have two displays active. I need to use a DP-DLDVI for the bottom displayport, but I have an HP L1950 and don't know if it supports dual link DVI. In fact, I cant find any monitor that explicitly states that it supports duallink DVI. I have only a single link DVI cable, so I'm sure that is part of the limitation.

I also have a spare old Trident USB VGA adapter I may try to use instead of the Intel discrete graphics. The other option is to use the Radeon MXM card, but I can't find the part number for it.
