I just purchased an Elite 8300 SFF desktop. I am now trying to add a second hard drive. There are 2 open SATA ports (blue and black ports). There is an extra power connector so connecting the hard drive is easy. I've tried 3 different hard drives (1 SSD, 1 2.5 HDD and 1 3.5HDD) and none are seen by Windows 10.
When I go into the BIOS settings and look under storage, each time the system seems to see the second hard drive with no issues. But when I go into Windows and look at File Manager>My PC, only the main boot SSD is visible along with the DVD drive; the second HDD is not there.
This same scenario plays out with any HDD I use. I've tried 3 drives, 3 SATA cables, and always the same result.
If I go into Computer Management utility in Windows and the Disk Management sub-function, the drive is not there either.
How can I get Windows to see this drive? The system sees it in BIOS but not in Windows. Any insights welcome and appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I encoutered excatly the same problem with a HP 8300 SFF and tried the same solutions. I also tried to connect the cable from the DVD drive to the second hard drive, and then Windows 10 could see and read the second hard drive. Then I tried to connect the DVD drive to one of the two other sata ports, but now Windows 10 could not see the DVD drive. Manifestly Windows 10 can not see a device in the second port of each Sata channel. Solution? May bee a bios update?
I have added a second hard drive in HP DC7900 SFF running Windows 10 with no problems.
Today (12-22-2015) I visited my relative again and updated the bios on his HP DC8300. It solved the problem!
