I recently purchased an HP Pavillion, with Win 8.1, desktop and am noticing by monitoring Task Manager that  the system is taking a long time to stabilize, i.e. minimal disk and CPU usage.  Looking at the Startup Tab I noticed "HP SimplePass Application" and 2 copies of "HP SimplePass BHO Broker" enabled.

What do these processes do and are they needed in my Startup?

This is part of the HP Simplepass Website login application.

You need to leave this alone if you ever plan on using HP SimplePass -- fingerprint scanner website login.
