You cannot download the latest version if you do not have Windows 8. I have Windows 7 and the HP site does not offer an option to download anything for Windows 7. As I said in my last post, I have an older version of the HP Support Assistant (which is Total Care Version 4.1.11.3) so my question is still specifically this:
what was the last update for Windows 7 and where can I find it online that's a legit source to download from?
Somebody please help!!! 2nd request!!

Hi,
Again, sp58919, per CherylG, is the latest version for Win 7 and Win 8.
It is installed on my system ( H8 1380t, Win 7 Home Premium, 64 bit) as an update to the version that came with the system.
Do you have the factory version installed on your system? If not, try installing original version and then do the update. This suggestion may seem counterintuitive or redundant, but if you have tried installing the update sans the factory version (and this applies to some HP software updates anecdotally) and it failed indicating "your system does not meet the minimun requirements", it is not necessarily because the update is not for your system. More likely this happens because the installer is looking for an instance of the older version of the software in order to validate the update.
