Hi,

i just reinstalled a HP Omni 27-1006el Desktop PC

I eliminated the big partition and created 2 - one for windows and another for my data.

I did not touched the RECOVERY partition and the system one.

Now I have a clean Windows 7 professional PC, but I would like to instal some of the native HP software that I saw in original version that was installed one my OMNI 27.

I know that all the HP software (not the drivers) that i want is inside that RECOVERY partition.

How can I access to it and install HP additional soft? Can I even download them from HP site?

(in particular i would like to install the keyboard soft: to see volume on screen and other function keys), monitor soft:  to adjust monitor colors and preferences, CyberLink video soft etc.)

(and I just realesed that my keybord does not working for all the buttons (i instaled all the original druvers from the support druver page) - F1 to F12 does not working and even Fn function are disabled 😞 - JUST volume function is avalible)

When you first setup your computer, you should have created your own personal HP Recovery Media. Also, all of the HP "value added" software and HP drivers should have been in a folder named "swsetup" of the root of the C:\ drive. This would have been the best location to acquire all of the software. All the software and drivers may be located in the HP Recovery partition but it is typically in a .WIM file and may not be recoverable though normal means. You may be "open" the .WIM files using 7-ZIP, which is an archive utility.

If you created you HP Recovery Media, perform an HP System Recovery using the discs or USB Flash drive to return the computer to a factory like state. From there, you should be able to copy the "C:\swsetup" folder and use the files in it to install the software on your Win7 Pro install.

If you didn't create the HP Recovery Media, you can try tapping "F11" at boot up or in Windows setting the "HP Recovery" partition as active and rebooting the computer. This may or may not work, and may require deleting other partitions, changing the status of other partitions, or using a Windows installation disc or Windows repair disc to attempt to run the recovery partition. You may also try this methodas posted in this forum thread entitled "Recovery partition is there but recovery won't start";

Solution: How to fix F11 not entering recovery manager process

You will need:

- this fix by HP: Fix for HP Multi-Partition Recovery Manager (the ProBook 6550b is not listed as a supported model, but it worked for me)

- a working Windows installation (see partial solution above) to install the fix on your ProBook

or

- enough knowledge to extract the missing winre.wim from the above fix, to copy it to your recovery partition and to apply any other necessary steps (I did not do this)

Steps:

- from within your working Windows installation on your ProBook open the downloaded file "sp48415.exe"

- files will be extracted to "C:\swsetup\SP48415", open this folder in Explorer

- right click "F11SPFix.cmd" and launch as administrator

- the fix will be applied

Reboot und press F11 during boot to enter your (hopefully) fixed recovery manager.

Credits to HP support.
