Been swamped with calls this month. She was willing to just have a full Recovery performed.

Glad you finally got it sorted. I was suspicous of a faulty hdd with that message-"Preparing Automatic Repair". That crops up a lot on notebook forum and usually running Diagnostics on the drive confirms bad hdd. Oddly ,it seems Windows 10 is extra hard on a hdd.
