Hi,

So the other day I installed a game and when I ran it the video never showed up and instead I got this dialog on screen that said "Input signal out of range - change settings to 1440x900 - 60hz", and ever since there has been a number of problems with my PC.

The first was that anything past the windows 8 loading screen wouldn't show, it would just have audio. - Which I fixed by refreshing the PC which basically did a refreshed install and kept my files.

Now though if I play any game at all on my PC I get that "Input signal out of range - change settings to 1440x900 - 60hz" warning in the middle of my screen. I have checked to change the resolution to 1440x900 - 60hz and it isnt available for me to choose this resolution. I even went as far as to create a custom resolution using these exact specs and it still didn't go away.

Could anyone please help me? I have no idea what to do

Hello eoghanm,

If you’re getting the message that your monitor is out of range, usually that means that your display card settings are too high for you monitor. If you’re not able to get anything on the screen boot into safe mode by tapping F8 at startup and select a lower resolution.

Also you might need to go to HP.com and download the latest graphics driver and BIOS update.

Here is a link to get the updates; you’ll need your product number.

Let me know if this helps.
