HP w2207h
Microsoft Windows Vista (64-bit)
My HP w2207h monitor will not display anything! This started when I restarted my computer. Now my monitor won't display anything. When I power on my monitor, it just says there is no HDMI input, then displays the "Monitor Going to Sleep" message, then turns off.
My PC still powers on.

I can confirm my PC is not the problem, as I still hear the Windows startup sound shortly after I power on my PC.

Can anyone help?

Hello ItsTheGuy,

Hard to say whats wrong but know that just because the computer lights and fans are running, does not mean its sending signal to the monitor.

Are you using an HDMI cable or VGA?

I would start with the easiest options first for troubleshooting.

Check the connection for a loose cable on both ends, computer and monitor.

You only have the computer connected to the HP monitor and not a second monitor also, correct?

You monitor has an On Screen Display menu.

The manual shows the functions of the buttons for this on pages 4-3 and 4-4.

9191 Monitor - c00834092

Even though that monitor will auto detect which input is used, go through the menu and check the input source.

Use the manual to see how to do this. Page 4-4.

Other options...

Turn the computer off. Unplug the monitor (both power cord and video cable) and leave it off for 5 minutes. Hold the power button down for 10 seconds to help drain any power in its capacitors. Then connect the video cable. Turn on the computer. Plug the monitors power cable in and turn on its power button.

If no signal still and you are using HDMI, can you switch to a VGA cable (or vice versa)? Its possible the settings in Windows got switched for output.

Or

Can you connect the monitor to another computer for testing?

If the monitor works on another computer, its your PC.
