I changed the resolution on my monitor and unfortunately picked one that is too high and my monitor now doesn't work.  The only dispaly I get on the monitor is "input signal out of range, change settings to 1600x900".  I followed all the instructions I can find (unplus, reboot, reset monitor to factory via OCD...), nothing changed...help!  how can I change the resolution back to the proper resoltuion.

I assume you changed the setting while in Windows? Which version of Windows is running on your pc? What model is your pc?

See the last section here-"Recovery when Windows 10 does not start correctly". You can use that procedure -But- after you click Troubleshoot do Not choose System Recovery as shown.  Click Advanced options. When it opens System Restore should be a choice. Use it to restore settings to a date before you changed resolution.
