A system test resulted in a failure in the Hard Drive Short DST Check, with the Failure ID: U4JEW1-7B780A-QFFV6K-60Q103.
The problems began 10 days after the warranty expired. *sigh*
Do I need to replace the hard drive?

Badrescher, welcome to the forum.
Yes, the error message is telling you that your hard drive has failed and has to be replaced. You should buy a hard drive the same size or larger than the one to be replaced. Otherwise, the System Recovery media will not work.
