I would like to use my newly acquired HD television PIP (picture in picture) feature as the monitor for my HP Compaq 8100 Elite PC which does not have HDMI output. The PIP feature requires an HDMI input.
Is there an upgrade card that I can add to the HP Compaq 8100 Elite PC to provide me with HDMI?

Anytime.
Glad to have been of assistance.
There should be a driver disk in the box.

Hi:
You can add a PCIe x16 graphics card with a HDMI out port and that will take care of that issue.
The AMD Radeon HD 6450 will work in both the CMT and SFF form factors.
If you have the SFF, you need to get a AMD 6450 low profile video card and it has to come with the low profile mounting brackets in the box.
If you have the 8100 Elite USDT form factor, then unfortunately, you cannot add a video card to that one.

Thank you Paul for the quick response. Perhaps this will not be such a big deal after all... (I hope). I am not sure I should even be messing with this computer, since I am just an "appliance operator" and not very computer savvy.
I have the low profile slim design version of the HP Compaq 8100 Elite PC.
Your reply sort of confused me when you mentioned a PCIeX16 graphics card then went on to mention AMD 6450 low profile video card..??? Are you talking about two different things that I need? Any suggestions on where I should buy? Does it need a new driver? Does the driver come with the card?
Sorry, for so many questions, but please remember I am just an "appliance operator"

You're very welcome.
You have to let me know if you have the 8100 Elite small form factor (SFF) or the ultra slim desktop (USDT).
It should say what form factor it is on the silver sticker with the serial number on it.
They both have small cases, and the USDT is even smaller than the SFF, and a video card can't fit in the case.
If you have the USDT, there is nothing you can do.
If you have the SFF, you can get this video card for your PC.

You're good to go then.
If you decide to add a video card, you will need to switch to the low profile brackets that come in the box because 99 times out of 100, the card will have the one bracket installed for a standard size tower PC.
Before you add the video card, make sure you uninstall the onboard Intel graphics adapter by going to the device manager, click to expand the display adapters device category, right click on the Intel graphic adapter shown there, select uninstall, check the uninstall driver box.
Instead of rebooting the PC as prompted, shut down the PC, unplug it and install your new video card.
Then you can install the video card driver once you are back into the windows desktop.

Paul,
Fantastic..! You are the bomb..!!! Perhaps a naive question, but where is the driver available. Will a CD come with the card?
I am not at the site of the computer until mid-March, but this project is top on my list when I get there. I will be sure to close the loop with you and the forum when I complete the mission.
Thank you
