HP Slimline Desktop - 260-a010 (ENERGY STAR)
OOBE, 4 GB RAM installed on the PC by default.
I am looking to upgrade the RAM to 16GB
Before doing that, I wanted to check both the RAM slots, (motherboard has only 2 RAM slots.)
I placed the 4GB RAM on the secondary slot and the PC did not boot or detect RAM.
I took the PC back to bestbuy, they said that the motherboard is bad and replaced the PC which was less than a week old.
The replacement PC also does not detect the RAM on the secondary slot.
Is there any method to enable the secondary RAM slot on this motherboard.
BIOS update done.
BIOS default done.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Hi,
The memory upgrade information is listed here.
Your first consideration should be HP Sales or HP Support when considering memory replacement or upgrades. If you want to consider other manufacturers then the easiest way to avoid memory problems is to contact one of the major memory manufacturers. I am recommending that you try the memory tools from these manufacturers: Corsair, Kingston and Crucial. Once you have determined the dimms that you need, then contact sales or technical support to verify that you have selected the correct dimms. If you buy directly from the manufacturers, then they will stand behind their products.
Update and run a full set of diagnostics.
Swap the original dimm to the other memory slot (don't install a second dimm) and retest. Run the diagnostics again.
