I highly recommend that you contact HP.  You will have to manually enter your product number if it is different than the one already there.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. 😉

In the Rooting  sticky it says "May impact your warranty settlement". That does not say that you have no warranty.

BTW. The mistake you made was deleting all partitions. If you want to be able to recover the device to factory state, do not do that. The wipe data/factory reset and wipe data partition options are safe to do, but the other partitions are important to leave as they are.

Did u just say   you `rooted it@??  :Surprise:

I have been asking everybody for a way to do that since I bought mine. None, from HP support to online forums, seem to have found a way yet.. and here u are..!!

My slate21 has decided to self-install 4.4 upgrade/updates and now I lost all write and modify permissions on hhd and sd. Also the whole system (crashes, constant freezing.. in Browser, Setting, Launch, ES file explorer and so on..) is now misbehaving.

If you really have done it already on your machine would you please provide and step-by-step tutorial for non-tech idiots like myslef somewhere (if not allowed on this forum.. don`t think HP will like it..) on the web?

We all would deeply appreciate it.

:TongueOut:

Hi @slate21jp,

I recommend you to be very careful with that, I lost my HP Slate21 because that (root). Until now I didn't found a way to restore the OS.

I also send the computer to an authorized HP technical assistance and they returned it because they also don't found a way to restore.

In my case, I thought was more easy to replace the storage device (hardware level) by an original with properly Android installed instead of try to restore it. But I don't know if this is even possible and maybe the solution is to replace the entire computer. I'm not an expert and never imagined before that someone can lost a computder by "software cause", but this is my case.

I suggest you to don't root and/or erase you computer. It can be different for you, but I don't found a way to fix it. I  actually forgot it.

If you are still interested in root your HP Slate 21, the only thing I remember is that I read carefully this instructions: http://androidxl.blogspot.com.br/2013/12/unlocking-your-hp-slate-21.html

Regards,
