HP really wants to make you think you are crazy.
Since my pavillion desktop was new there has been something wrong with one of the fans. Sometimes when you come out of sleep mode a fan will run and never stop.
I called support when it first haqppened and he ran me through some diagnostics and the result was "the cooling fan is functioning properly". For the life of me I can't remember where he had me go to run it but I don't think it was through Troubleshooting in HP Support. I think it was at F9 or something when starting up.
So it's really hot here and I want to get this resolved so I call back and not one of the techs knows of a diagnostic to tell if the fan is functioning? Huh? The guy four months ago had me run it first thing. Why can't they now tell me again how to run it?
Does anyone know?

So I assume the BIOS is the most current.
In HPSA there is a tool "HP System Board Check". Perhaps this is what he had me run but I remember it being more specific to the fan(s) operation. Any idea if that tool exists?
When I do the "SP System Board Check" the loud fan I hear after coming out of sleep comes on for a few seconds during the test. The test reports no problems.

pagnmickie,
Please do not hi-jack a thread.
When you repost, can you specify the model# and what the fan is doing.

Hi again,
For some reason BIOS later than 6.12 was not published on HP.com.
Current revision is 6.16. I have tried to address this with responsible team. Give it few days and check SW and Drivers updates for your product.
