Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP
My hp Compaq XD 2200 won't start. I have not used it for more than 2 years .

Microsoft ended support for Windows XP in April 2014 -- just over 3 years ago.

 

So, I suggest that you remove the disk-drive from your computer, buy a new (and faster) computer, and attach the disk-drive as a "secondary" disk-drive, and copy all your personal files onto the new computer.  Disconnect this disk-drive, and put it aside. Then, "responsibly recycle" all the other components of your old computer.
