Hello guys,

So, I switched on my computer as normal this morning, only to find the screen seems to be frozen ? :Crying:

The mouse pad works as normal, and you can see and move the mouse around fine. But when you click on something/anything, nothing happens..  :indifferent:

Everything works normal for the first few minutes then it sems to freeze. Like when you go to click on icons, they don't come up highlighted like they normally do, and when you click on them nothing happens at all.

As I said, the mouse works fine, but everything on the screen seems to just freeze and you can't click on anything and when you do nothing happens. I can actually access some things by using the keyboard because that works too. I hope you guys know what I mean, I'm using at explaining about these kind of things! I tried taking the battery out then putting it back in again and booting up again only to remain in the same situation. :smileyindifferent:

I would be really grateful for any help!

Thanks so much,

CammyGolazo

Thanks so much mate. I left it for a while, and an hour and a half later, it had actually un-froze and I could click on things again! I have had it on for about an hour or so, and it hasn't frozen again yet. Do you think it may have sorted itself out? If it does happen to freeze again tonight, I'll have a crack at the method you sent me of refreshing the system.  :generic:

Many Thanks.

Yes,i think that as a result of background automatic windows update, the problem may have been rectified by itself, yet if it persist let me know me if i may be of any other assistance aside the link. You are most welcome.

Unfortuantley, the problem has started again. :Crying:

It was working since it un-froze for most of the day, but in to the evening it began to freeze again and I had to switch it off twice. You can still move the mouse, but everything on the screen just seems to freeze. It always seems to be the display tools that freeze like the 'X' and the '-' icons as well as the 'E' for the Internet at the bottom.

I am going to give the first method you gave me a try and see if that can fix it. I've checked the fans and cleaned them both out so I don't think it's an over-heating issue.

Thank again. :generic:

I have managed to get in to system recovery. :generic:

They are two options: 'Refresh Your PC' or 'Reset Your PC'. Which one would be the best to select? I don't have any files I need to hang on too, so if it's best to do a Reset, then that's fine!

Thanks for your help.

Alright then use "Reset your PC"
