I just bought a new computer:

http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03649846

Motherboard: IPMMB-FM

video card: AMD Radeon HD 8470 1GB DDR3

When I got the computer I replaced the AMD video card with an nVidia GTX660 and also changed the PSU to a Antec 650watt due to the increased load of the video card.  I then reset the CMOS using the jumper and it gave me beep codes (8 single tones) that I could not understand. The computer came with no manual indicating beep codes nor could I find any onliine.

I then proceeded in putting back the AMD Radeon HD 8470 and it works again.  So the question is:

1)  Where can I find beep codes for this motherboard?

2) Also it seems that it does not like its video card configuration to be changed?

It seems that I am not the only one experiencing this problem:

Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you.

PS: I used to build computer from parts so doing this is not new for me.

Hi:

What you are experiencing is new with W8 PC's.

You need to go into the BIOS, enable legacy mode and disable secure boot.

See this document at the link below. If you have video there is no need to remove your new card.

After doing some research this is what I came across as a solution:

Now the question is How do I access the BIOS inside windows 8?

Thank you for that.  That ia actually what I did and it solved my problem.  I have been working on this for two days and was close to returing the computer back 🙂

Now it is running fine! 🙂 Much apprecited and thank you!
