HP Pavillion a6535c
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My system used to work fine but I lost internet connectivity using the LAN RJ45 connector.  It shows a yellow light at all times.  The same cable work just fine on another computer - so the issue is clearly with the onboard LAN.

I see the LAN in device manager and shows as functioning well.

When I try to connect though  the diagnostic indicates I might have the wrong driver installed but deactivated.  When I try to activate the card with Windows the dialog shows it is activated but remain inactive in device manager.

I tried a PCIe Wireless adapter but keep getting the same problems (tried with and without the LAN enable/disable in the BIOS).  I tried both PCIe slots with the same results.

In all those all devices shows no conflict and functionning properly.  The driver installed for the cabled Ethernet is a realtek PCIe lates available as of Feb 25 2017.  Since this machine was built for Vista and now works on W7 Ultimate not quite sure if this drive works.

Would you have any suggestions for the following :

Which driver should I look for to have the RJ45 'GREEN'?

Why would the PCIe not be able to recognize the Wireless adapter and how can it be fixed?

Any suggestion on a motherboard that could replace this one ... pretty much in kind?

Thanks for your help

Hi,

This is a very old machine, no available information on the Part store

   http://partsurfer.hp.com/search.aspx

no Network drivers information from its homepage

    http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-a6000-Desktop-PC-series/3733085/model/37...

only its specs:

    http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c01498947

The specs indicates it ONLY has

LAN: 10-Base-T
  • Interface: Integrated into motherboard

  • Technology: Realtek 8111C

  • Data transfer speeds: up to 10/100 Mb/s

  • Transmission standards:10-Base-T Ethernet

My suggestion is to set it up as auto negotiate. Please try (similar):

Regards.

Thanks BH.

It is indeed an old machine but has been an excellent working horse!!!  And would like to keep it has it has old apps I find useful.

Unfortunately I cannot access the function to automate the LAN speed under W7 device adapter.

Any suggestion of a replacement motherboard that can do the work?

Regards
