Hi Guys, did you fix anything about this problem? because I am having the same issue. kindly share with me. 

I cannot install new graphics cards with this HP S5-1240d. 

I lost my money. i was frustrated and upset.

Thread is old but there is bios update. New version is 8.20.  http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-p6-2200-desktop-pc-series/5258508/model/...

 

Maybe problem is also this http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03653200                                

 

There is windows 8 version but it also worked with 10. No any problems. But is this bios working with windows 7 is?

 

For me with same motherboard but different hp pc model there was no bios update under windows 8.1 menu but under 8.0 there was bios updates. HP support assistant was also saying that there is no any updates?

Here someone is installed Windows 8 bios  on windows 7 system with Foxconn Joshua-H61-uATX motherboard. Link

 

But there is still a risk!
