Hello. I have hp desktop G5401ru (motherboard pegatron 2a99 like same m2n68-la rev 6.02). In specification says that motherboard support max 4GB Ram DDR3 PC10600. Now I have one stick in slot Samsung m378b5273dh0-ch9 DDR3 4gb). Can I add in second slot same RAM and get 8GB ram? More stores and forums says that it's possible.

Hi @Batak,
Thanks for visiting the HP community and posting your query here. Good day. 🙂 I understand that you are looking for assistance carriage jam issues with the new printer. It will be a delight to assist you. 🙂
Brilliant effort and superb diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. I am amazed at your technical expertise. 🙂
We greatly value your relationship with HP. You are a valued HP customer and we appreciate you greatly for doing business with HP. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂
First off, I reviewed both the product specifications of the computer
Link for product specifications: http://support.hp.com/gb-en/product/HP-Pavilion-G5400-Desktop-PC-series/5080749/model/5148031/docume...
The product specs clearly state that it supports 4GB of RAM for 32 bit operating systems.
- Dual channel memory architecture
- Two DDR3 DIMM (240-pin) sockets
- Supported DIMM types:
- PC3-8500 (DDR3-1066)
- PC3-10600 (DDR3-1333)
- Non-ECC memory only, unbuffered
- Supports 2GB DDR2 DIMMs
- Supports up to 4 GB* on 32 bit PCs
*32-bit operating systems cannot address a full 4.0 GB of memory.
As you said there are other forum threads that state that the maximum ram supported is 8GB
Forum thread: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/What-is-the-maximum-amount-of-me...
Please note that HP does not recommend upgrading either the operating system or the computer’s hardware as the components that were initially installed with the unit are certified by HP for optimal performance.
However, as you are very technically inclined, I would still request you to consult a local technician like Best Buy or Staples before proceeding to upgrade the unit.
So please contact a local Best Buy or staples technician and perform the upgrade so that there are no compatibility issues with the memory module upgrade of your computer and everything works smoothly.
Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. I'm always there to assist you. Please reach out anytime. 🙂
To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.
If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.
Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. 🙂
