Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Yesterday I turned on my computer and it said "Scanning and repairing drive (C:)". I waited and everything was fine. Later, when I closed the browser, suddenly my computer had Windows 8 instead of Windows 10?? I updated to Windows 10 when I got the computer, about 2 years ago. Why did this happen and what can I do about it?

Hi anlon004,

Microsoft did this because something was not right.

Reverting to Windows 8.1 is better than having a PC that does not boot.

You can reinstall Windows 10 by going to this site. Windows 10 will activate after the installation as you have a digital entitlement. Back up data before you try the update.

Use the tool to upgrade to Windows 10. This is the new version (Creator's Update). Microsoft has recommended you wait for the upgrade as some PC's are having problems with the new operating system. Maybe this was caused by the update.

It is important to state that the installer will ask you for the 25-character product-key.

At that point, cilck "I do not have one", and the installer will complete.

Then, if you have an active Internet connection, Windows will "activate" -- at no cost to you,

because you were granted that "digital entitlement".
