Hey there! @bakerboxes, Thanks for stopping by HP forums!
I understand the DVD drive is not getting recognized on your PC?
Don't worry I'll try to help you out.
Did you make software or hardware changes on your PC?
Check if the DVD drive cable connections are securely connected.
Please try the steps recommended below.
Unplug all non-essential external plug and play devices, especially cameras. Then complete the following steps.
In Windows, search for and open regedit.
Select Computer in the main window.
Click File, click Export, type a filename that is easy for you to remember, then click Save.
A copy of the registry has been saved for back-up purposes to the Documents folder. If problems occur after using these steps, browse to the file and double-click it to restore the registry.
Click the arrow next to each of the following items in the list:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet
Control
Class
Select 4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318. Make sure you have selected this exact key name.
If a LowerFilters value is listed on the right side of the Registry Editor window, select the LowerFilters value and press the Delete key. Confirm the deletion by clicking Yes.
If an UpperFilters value is also listed, select UpperFilters in the right side of the window and press the Delete key.
Confirm the deletion by clicking Yes.
Delete all other UpperFilters and LowerFilters values within the 4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318 key if any exist.
Close the Registry Editor and restart the computer. The disc drive should now be recognized by Windows. You may need to uninstall your disc recording software, restart the computer, reinstall the CD/DVD writing software, then restart the computer again if the software no longer recognizes the drive.
Refer this article to further troubleshoot CD/DVD Drive Is Not Detected.
I'll keep an eye out for your response.
I hope you have a great day! 🙂

enumproppage REG_SZ storprop.dll,dvdproppageprovider
iconpath REG_MULTI_SZ %systemroot%/system32/imageres.dll,-30
lastdeletedate REG_BINARY 12 ae db 15 c7d1d d201

@bakerboxes, It's great to hear from you again.
I appreciate your efforts for trying out the steps.
Thanks for sharing the details, It looks like you don't have the upper and lower filters to delete.
So try the steps recommended below.
In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
Double-click DVD/CD-ROM drives to expand the category.
Right-click the drive name and select Uninstall.
If a confirmation window opens, click OK or Yes.
The drive name should be removed from the list (and the DVD/CD-ROM drives category will also be removed if there is only one drive).
In Device Manager, click Action, select Scan for hardware changes, then wait for Windows to find and install the CD/DVD drive.
When the installation finishes, the drive name should appear in Device Manager.
Also, check in BIOS if the DVD drive is getting detected. If the drive is not detected try changing the cables.
If the issue still persists it is a hardware issue, please contact HP support for service options.
Link to contact HP.
Let me know how it goes!
Have a great day ahead! 🙂
