I recently had to replace a m9150f desktop with a 500-214.  I was attempting to use the original 24" monitor but am unable to get sound from the built in speakers. Also had this problem in the past with the previous tower, but somehow it would correct itself.  Any help would be greatly appreciated as the wife is having withdrawl pains.

Yes  has two integrated rear facing speakers.  You can see the screen has audio controls built in the lower right edge of frame in the picture on the link.  Tried to include copy of photo of rear of screen but it apparently was unaccepatble format (invalid HTML).   At time of purchase of the new tower, I bought an adapter to go from computer DVI-D output to HDMI cable.   Any additional help would be appreciated i.e. additional or better cable/cord.

Thanks for the help,

Hi,

DVI-D signals don't carry sound. Your computer does not have HDMI port therefore you need MORE cable/cord to connect from your computer to the monitor to get sound. Hang on,  are you sure the monitor has speakers ? No speaker on the following link:

Hi,

DVI-D to HDMI still no sound. You need something similar to the following adapters:
