There is a solder point for the connector, but the connector(plastic) peice itself is not on the board.

you can see a low-resolution picture of the "Carmel 2" motherboard.

 

Immediately to the left of the white-coloured 2-by-24 socket for the power is a black circle, with a few holes.

That is the PC Speaker -- where any "beeps" from the motherboard are generated.

To its left are the two, parallel, black-coloured, sockets for the RAM.

Im a little confused. The only circle I see next to Motherboard Power connector is the battery.

you can see 4 horizontally-oriented black sockets (1 long, and 3 short).

 

Above that long slot is the part-number for the motherboard.  Does it match the part-number for your motherboard?

 

Also, what's that "black-circle" to the left of the 3 short sockets?  Capacitor, or PC speaker?

 

But, I don't see how this tangent gets you any closer to your "amber-light-no-display" problem.
