Hi:

I think you need this one...

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-101536-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...=

and this one...

There are more than one variation of drivers that can work, so without the model number of your PC, I can only guess.

Hi there, looking to get some assistance related to this post.

I also cannot find the driver for a PCI Simple Communications Controller on Win 7 x64.

I'm using an HP Compaq Elite 8300 CMT.
The hardware ID is PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E3A&SUBSYS_3396103C&REV_04
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E3A&SUBSYS_3396103C
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E3A&CC_078000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E3A&CC_0780

I've tried to use the Softpaq donwloader but cannot figure out what I am missing.

I clicked the link in the original post but the link no longer works?

Any help would be HUGELY appreciated!

I'll post back once I've installed this but thank you so much for a quick reply!

Whilst you're around, I also have an issue with an HP Z220 CMT Workstation running Win 7 x64.

Again, PCI Simple Communications Controller with the following hardware IDs:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E3A&SUBSYS_1790103C&REV_04
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E3A&SUBSYS_1790103C
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E3A&CC_078000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E3A&CC_0780

Again, thanks in advance for the help! Apologies if is the same/similar driver!

You're very welcome.

Yes that appears to be the same driver you need but a different revision perhaps...

This is the driver from the Z220's support and driver page.

Sorry friend,

The Z220 solution worked a treat, thanks a bunch! Unfortunately, my 8300 didn't like it.

I downloaded the driver, navigated to the directory and tried to install. The install wizard came up, checked the circle for removing the files once download is completed. It goes all the way through to the Intel Management Engine Components setup program.

THEN, it copies files to various directories and as soon as the script says installing driver I get a dialog box that says,

"The setup program failed to install one or more device drivers. Setup will now exit."

Funnily enough though, the script is quoting version number 8.0.0.1262 as opposed to 8.0.3.1427?

Please ignore my previous post. I got so frustrated that I went to Device Manager and asked it to browse the SWSETUP folder. Worked on the THIRD time of browsing?!?!

I'm going to call this a win eventhough I DO NOT understand how this has come about!

Thanks for all the help, Paul! Kudos added.

You're very welcome.

That was going to be my next suggestion...manually install the driver.
