Unfortunately i bricked my pc when flashing the bios to v6.12. i am attempting to downgrade bios to 6.10 which worked fine.  i cannot load windows from the hard drive.  I have successfully booted to DOS from USB and can run AFUDOS however i believe i do not have the correct .ROM file.  How can i create a .ROM file from the .exe?  Or does anyone have any .ROM earlier than 6 that i could use? Or can i use a .bin file to flash this motherboard.

Try F8 at boot time and see if you can boot in Safe mode.  If the BIOS defaults have changed such as RAID <-> AHCI then you might experience a blue screen.

Where did you get the BIOS update from? The BIOS listed on your drivers page is v 6.16:

You might try extracting it with 7Zip to get the files.

Have you entered BIOS and reset to Default settings since the flash?

Hello CherylG and many thanks for your reply.  Correct you are - the bios is 6.16 - fat fingers on my part!  i have extracted the files for Bios v 6.1 using 7zip, however there is where i am stuck.  as i can only boot to a DOS prompt, what utility must i use to flash and what "type" of file, ie .ROM or .BIN.  when extracting using 7zip, none of those file exist.  Can i create them somehow?   i have done lots of "Google" research, been able to create a bootable DOS USB stick, i cannot run the .exe without windows.  i am in the 'hell in the hallway' of almost.   So, What tool shall i use to flash in DOS and what target file and how to i get it or make it?

Sally,

You stated elsewhere "I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and i have Intel i7.  I was stable with bios version 6.10.  I flashed via the .exe to 6.12 which was unsuccessful.  Now i get the windows splash screen for about 10 sec then a blue screen which is too fast for me to read then a reboot."

To me that means the BIOS flash was successful. If you are getting a Windows splash screen... then a blue screen... then a reboot... Windows is working as designed. Windows is blue screening for a reason. The most likely problem is that the BIOS update changed a setting, added a feature, or changed something that is confusing Windows.

You may wish to remove your current hard drive, install a spare unused hard drive, and do a clean install of Windows on that drive. If this works, it proves that everything is just fine... only problem is that the original Windows install isn't liking whatever change occured with the BIOS update.

If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Hello Big Dave!  You were EXACTLY right.  The Sata Controller Mode was set to RAID.  I changed it to AHCI and voila the PC booted into windows perfectly.  What made me think i had bricked it was after the Bios Flash my PC  would provide a Windows Splash Screen = Windows starting, Then the 4 colored balls that form the windows logo would begin to swirl, then freeze then the PC would go into Repair Windows.  When Repair windows failed the error message it wanted to report was: Problem Signature 01: 6.1.7600.16385 | PS 02: 6.1.7600.16385 | PS03:unknown | PS04: 21199047 | PS05:AutoFailover | PS06: 10 | PS07: BadDriver.  The good news is i have retained my perfect record of never bricking a PC and you taught me a valuable lesson, never give up, because your advice was exactly what happened.  Thank you thank you thank you.

Glad you finally have it sorted. Fortunately lasvegaswireman saw elsewhere that you were actually getting to a boot screen and changed the course of this thread.

Fwiw-any time a machine is bricked by a bad BIOS flash you will never get far enough to see a Windows boot screen.
