I bought brand new tonight (8/4/14) the HP Pavilion 23bw. My OS is Windows 7. I hooked everything up. All worked beautifully. I put the disk in and everything was fine. I did the restart. Screen went out and will not turn back on. I took everything back apart and started from scratch several times but although the light in the back says it's getting power The screen will not come back on. I did read online that the monitor lock may have been enabled and to disable, hold the on/off button on the monitor for 10 seconds. This did nothing. I have had the screen for 2 hours and it won't work. Can someone help me before I have to re box it and return it 40 miles away??

I feel like such a dummy.  When I was reading the instructions it said to press the ON button on the front of the computer.  The first time I hooked it up, it must have been a fluke and when I moved the mouse it came on.  It wasn't until I put the monitor on a very LARGE book to take a better look at it that I realized the buttons are UNDER NEATH the monitor.  I am so sorry to have bothered you.  Everything is working beautifully.  Thanks!!!  Shanna

Hey, don't feel bad.  This is how those of us helping on the forum got our knowledge; by learning from our mistakes.    There is always a learning curve with any new electronic equipment.
