Please recommend Video Graphics Card

Hello & How?

My Video graphics card is not working. It is a ATI radeon HD 4350 with 512 MB dedicated graphics. I would like to upgrade to a better card that would fit and work with Windows 10.

The computer is a HP Pavillion Elite e9220Y desktop PC.

Please recommend a card that would work in the slot with Windows 10 and with 2 gb on board memory. 

I am not that big into games, but like good resolution.

From that "specifications" document, you can see that different models of your computer have either a "low-profile" spine (with only 2 connectors) or a "full-size" spine (with 3 connectors, but only 2 can be used at one time).

So, that is the first consideration in your selection -- "will it fit?".

Second, which video-inputs does your monitor (or your TV) have?

No sense in buying a video-card that does not have the correct connectors.

Third, some video-adapters require more wattage than your computer's power-supply can produce.

Fourth, what is the "optimal" resolution of your monitor? Make? Model?

To have the "best" picture, your video-card needs to be capable of running at that resolution.

Fifth, what's your budget?

Answering these questions will help you make an appropriate purchase.

1- Monitor Model HP 2311xi has a VGA connection.

2- Power supply is 300 W.

3-Optimal resolution FullHD 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz

4- Budget -$ 200-300 say.

Monitor interface - DVI-D, HDMI, VGA. I prefer to use VGA.

The 2311xi IPS LED backlit LCD monitor has DVI-D and VGA video input connectors.

You should use DVI for "best" display, because DVI transmits 3 types of information, whereas VGA encodes those 3 types into one stream, and the VGA monitor must decode the stream into the 3 types.

I cannot tell whether your computer has the "low-profile" or the "full-height" bracket. What do you have?

Also, your motherboard has "integrated" video:

Integrated ATI Radeon HD 4200 graphics

  *   Integrated video is not available if a graphics card is installed.

• Up to 256MB dedicated memory
• Can use both DVI and VGA ports at the same time.

So, try removing the add-in card, and connecting a DVI cable from the integrated DVI port to the DVI port on your monitor, to observe the quality of the video, before spending any money on a different add-in graphics card.

Please try physically removing the add-in card, and connecting a DVI cable from the integrated DVI port to the DVI port on your monitor, to observe the quality of the video, before spending any money on a different add-in graphics card.

Could you suggest a card? I am thinking of a Geoforce GT610 with 2gb on board memory.
