Hi

We bought a new HP ProDesk 600 G1 Tower PC, It was shipped with a WD 500GB Sata Drive. We would like to set up RAID 1 with a second 500GB Drive using the onboard raid function.

We bought a same 500GB drive and connected to the motherboard. The drive is recognized in the BIOS and Windows 7, however in the BIOS there are only 2 SATA function types available, AHCI or IDE, but no RAID option.

Can anyone assist us to set it up, please?

Hi,

I solved it this way:

 - enabled SATA RAID option ROM download in BIOS (advanced -> device options)

 - installed 2nd HDD

 - changed emulation to SATA and choose RAID mode in BIOS

 - installed IRST (Intel Rapid Storage Technology) driver and configuration software (http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=5404565&swItemId=vc_137678_1&swEnvOid=405...

 - set the RAID1

...works for me

regards,

Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately it did not help...

 - enabled SATA RAID option ROM download in BIOS (advanced -> device options)

There is no such an option in advanced -> device options.

 - changed emulation to SATA and choose RAID mode in BIOS

There is no RAID option. Just AHCI and IDE.

 - installed IRST (Intel Rapid Storage Technology) driver and configuration software

I installed IRST but no create RAID option due to the BIOS is not configured for RAID.

I would like to find out whether this particular model is designed to be able to configure RAID.

Looking at PC specifications, it has Intel Q85 Express chipset which "does not support RAID features" according to Intel's data sheet.

It looks Prodesk 600 G1's motherboard does not support RAID natively...
