HP Support Assistant claims that I need an update to my wireless adaptor. Ralink SP58084, ver 3.2.14.0Ap1, 33.29 mb. I've tried to install it from the Update Assistant and it's failed every time with no error code. I then tried to manually install it  by downloading it directly from HP and running it and it fails again - this time with an erro message "Update did not complete successfully. (259)"

Any clues as to what's wrong?

Thanks!

Please check in device manager whether your system has Ralink wireless card. if it is not there, then you can ignore this update.

My machine has a Ralink 802.11n wireless lan card installed when it was shipped from HP, which is why I received the HP Assistant message. The driver is 5.0.9.0. Device mgr reports no pproblems with the card.

sp58084 version is 3.2.14.0 Rev. A. That might be the reason for not being installed. Try manually installing the driver from the following weblink:

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp58001-58500/sp58084.exe

If it fails, please ignore this update.

Maybe update the card drivers via device manager?

Actually, that's the path that I used when I tried to install it manually. Same result. Thanks.
