Greetings @dubaiblueUAE,
Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post.
I understand that you are unable to use the recovery kit on your computer after replacing the HDD.
Don't worry, I will be glad to help.
Could you please help me with the product number/model of your computer?
Was the recovery kit created on the same computer? (Recovery kit is specific to a particular model.)
Recommend you to boot the computer to BIOS by tapping F10 repeatedly on startup.
Reset/Restore the BIOS to defaults, Save and Exit BIOS.
Try to install the OS again using the recovery kit.
If the issue persists, boot the computer to BIOS again.
Enable secure boot and disable legacy boot in BIOS.
Save and Exit BIOS and try to install the operating system again using the recovery kit.
If you are using a recovery created on a different computer, please contact our phone support to order a recovery kit meant for your computer.
Also, refer HP PCs - Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 😎 for assistance.
Let me know it goes.

Good Luck.

Hello dubaiblueUAE
An HP factory recovery can fail for any of the following reasons:
1. The HP recovery media is corrupt. The HP recovery media is usually three or four DVD discs.
2. The new HDD is smaller than the factory installed HDD. The PC is a Windows Vista era PC which had a factory installed non Advanced Format (AF) HDD. HP recovery media for a Windows Vista PC cannot see the newer AF HDD's.
3. Component upgrades were done such as adding a graphics card, sound card, or any other component on the PCIe bus. The HP recovery media will only work with factory components or factory CTO components.
4. All peripherals such as printers, external drives, wireless USB media, or UPS's must be disconnected when doing the upgrade. Only connect the keyboard and mouse.

Most of the time it is a waste of time to recover a image. If possible, format and reload from scratch. I keep my HP OS disc like gold and only recover the data i need. I just feel that a new install is best.
