We are running HP Thin Clients T5745's running ThinPro OS Build T6X44102
In the display preferences it has many resolutions listed, but the supported resolutions we require for our HP L2045w monitors is not listed in the choices.
We are looking for at least the option to use 1280 x 800, which is one of the few resolutions that will not stretch the screen.
We are able to force the thin client into this mode via the command line using xrandr, and it works fine, so we know for sure the hardware, and the O/S are capable of supporting this resoltuion, however this is not practical for end users, as it requires administrator access and a good knowledge of linux to do it.
Does anyone know how we can edit the list of available screen resolutions in the Display properties, and add the missing screen resolution options we require?
This has been missing for the last few versions of ThinPro, which is preventing us from upgrading to the latest version.
** Addition, another issue we are having with this version, regardless of which screen resolution we choose in the Display Properties, it doesn't seem to change anything (every setting produces a 1680 x 1050 output) The Display proerties itself does not seem to be having any affect on the output resolution.
Thanks

Did you ever have any solution to this isssue? We are experiencing the same problem with our ThinPro clients. It seems that only certain resolutions work, depending on what model of monitor is connected.
For example, when we connect a Dell 23" monitor, the machine ignores any resolution setting above 1152x864. If we set it to anything above, it just uses the monitor's max resolution of 1920x1080. However, anything 1152x864 and below, it will set the resolution successfully (and then the monitor stretches it out).
If we use a particular HP 19" widescreen monitor, then we can manually set 2 or 3 of the resolutions available, but if we set it to use any of the others, it just ignores the setting and uses the maximum resolution of the monitor.
This is very frustrating as we would like to set the system to a lower resolution (such as 1600x900 on a 23" monitor) for some of our users as they complain that the native resolution makes everything too small.
Forgot to mention... we are using the T5565 with ThinPro 44102

Unfortunately no, we never did find a good solution.
one thing we tried was forcing the screen resolution using some instructions we found on another forum
http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=78330
Once the script was configured I assinged this to a keyboard shortcut in the thin client options.
This did work, however it has to be implemented every time system is rebooted. After going through all this we also discovered afterwards, the Citrix connector in this version does not work properly either. There is an issue with the control key sticking, and causing other problems with the Citrix session.
We decided that this version is just simply too buggy to put into production and we have gone back to the older version of the software.

Thanks for the reply. That info helps immensely!!
After reading through the link you posted, I was doing a little more reading on xrandr and discovered that we can simply scale the resolution (xrandr --output <displayname> --scale .75x.75). We only have a couple of users who were wanting a lower resolution, so we have added a keyboard shortcut with that command to their thin clients. This way they can easily cycle back and forth between the lower resolution and the native resolution with just a couple of keystrokes. We use Remote Desktop Services instead of Citrix, and so far all seems well on that end.
