Hi all,

I'm trying to get a BIOS access problem fixed, but unfortunately no success so far.

I have a HP Compaq Elite 8300 SFF with an i5-3470 CPU and 4GB ram. I had Windows 7, but at this time it runs Windows 8.

I want to access my BIOS to change some settings, but when I press F10 (or esc and then F10 from the oprions menu), the screen just turns black/blanc.

I'm not sure if it freezes, but nothing is displayed on the screen. All other options (F2 Diagnostics, F9 Boot menu, Utilities, Run UEFI Applications, System information and Change language work just fine, only F10 keeps giving me the black/blanc screen.

What I tried so far:

1. downgrade BIOS from 2.9 to 2.84

2. install win8 and tried using the UEFI option (which gives a reboot and no luck at the options menu)

3. reset BIOS password (remove jumper e49, press yellow button etc.)

4. moved memory through all 4 banks

5. use the Bios Configuration Utility

I tried all kinds of reboot combinations.

Noe of the above had any success. BIOS can not be accessed.

Anyone?

Hi,

Try booting the unit into BIOS following below steps:
• Restart the unit and press F10 you will get the screen which says press F1.
• After pressing F1, immediately press Esc key to boot the unit to BIOS.

If above step won't work, please remove the hard drive from the unit and try booting into BIOS using normal f10 key or the above steps.

Reply with update!!
