Nvidia GeForce 6100 nForce 405
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

My wife has an eMachines desktop that she loves. She says it just works  so not ready to part with it. It is running an

NVidia GeForce 6100 nForce 405 video card. The win 10 upgrade will not run due to this card and Nvidia will most likely not bother with an update due to the age of the card. Anyone know a way around or do I need to try to find a win 10 compatable card and add it in an available slot? I was hoping that maybe others here may have had the same issue and found a solution. Even though her computer is not HP your solution may work.

What you can try, uninstall the nividia driver in device manager, then try upgrade imediately, W10 should install a generic driver.

Yes upgrading to a compatible video card is another solution.

Hi, you can upgrade! 🙂

Your GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 is a GeForce 6 Series.

Here is the solution explained in detail for GeForce 6 or 7 Series:
NVIDIA compatibility issue with Windows 10 (Solved)

Users in my post reported that this solution works on your graphics card. I upgrade to Win10 with a NVIDIA GeForce 7025 / NVIDIA nForce 630a.

The error message you are seeing is a Microsoft problem that they probably will fix in Win10SP1. What the error message is trying to tell you is that, the video driver in Win 10 functions only "half assed" with the nVidia 6000 and 7000 series Graphic chips. You have to use the factory driver from nVidia. The way to get around this problem in Windows 10. First check in the device manager that the latest Monitor Driver from the manufacturer is loaded. The Windows default driver is unacceptable, and will cause problems. The driver must be the correct driver from the monitor manufacturer. Check which Windows you are running, 32 bit or 64 bit. Now download and run the "Win10 media file creator file" from Microsoft For 32 bit: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=616935 For 64 bit: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=616936 These files are over 2 Gigabytes, so plan for hours. (Depending on connection speed.) After the system updates to Windows 10, check, to make sure the manufacturers monitor driver is installed, and then download and install the version 309.08 nVidia Video driver for your PC. For 32bit: http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/309.08/309.08-desktop-win8-win7-winvista-32bit-international-w... For 64 bit: http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/309.08/309.08-desktop-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-international-w... For Laptops go to: http://ivanrf.com/en/nvidia-compatibility-issue-with-windows-10/ and read the options listed there for laptops. If after loading the video driver all of the problems caused by the Windows 10 Video driver are not cleared, go to: http://ivanrf.com/en/nvidia-compatibility-issue-with-windows-10/ This guy is a real Windows profi, and a lot of people hang out here who have experienced and solved various Windows problems in this area. They know more than I do, and their collective experience is greater than mine. I only work on PCs.
