Z800 Workstation
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (64-bit)

I want to upgrade my CPU to X5680 (6 core). I bought a new MB from eBay to support this CPU. AS#460383-003", the board will support both the Nehalem and also the "Westmere" 56xx Xeons.  I also have the proper heat sinks (via liquid cooling)

I was initlaily trying to boot the new MB with 2 CPU's but then I decided to try with CPU0 only since 2 CPU's did not work. When I powered up with both 1 and 2 CPU's all the fans started, EXCEPT the 2 memory fans. The memory fans got the jolt of power, spun for 1 revelotion and then stopped. The other fans are flying along fine. The machine recieves the power; fans, CD drawer can open, but the bios does not start. So after some research on this site I learned that the MB bios may not support the CPU's I have tried. I tried the following CPU's (1 at a time) on this 003 board: Xeon W5580, X5560, and X5680.

I have the most recent MB but the bios on it maybe old and does not support the 3 CPU's I have tried (just guessing now). I do find that hard to beleive since I have the latest version of the z800 MB. The eBay seller said the board was tested when they put up the ad. I have just sent an email to him/her asking what CPU they "tested" the MB with. If the CPU they used was much older than the 3 I have specified then I can just buy that one from eBay. I should be able to boot into the OS and then upgrade the bios to v3.60 Rev A April 14, 2016. Then switch to the 2 Xeon X5680 CPU's I want to use.

Can anyone provide some insight to what my issue could be? If the problem was related to the MB I would have imagined that the machine would have started to beep. Since it did not I think it is a bios issue. If it is a bios issue would it be possible for the 003 rev MB to not boot up the bios for the old W5580 or X5560 CPU's?

Z800 spec sheet (this is for the older MB since the X56XX CPU's are not listed).

Tried many single CPUs on this box and nothing worked so I deemed the MB was faulty. Returning the MB.
