Thank you.....I am so not technical, but I want to figure out how to help my computer. I dont know what an HDD is. I assume from looking up the link you gave me, it means hard drive. Could this be referring to the external hard drive I attached to my computer which I have never figured out how to use. I wanted to use it to back up my computer in case of a crash, but dont know how to use it.

Hi,
Yes, it's a hard drive (full name: Hard Disk Drive - I think) we used to use floppy disk and we call newer one as dard disk. Now, to be honest, I don't know what is your configuration therefore I can only guess: Since you are talking about external disk, my question: How do you connect this external disk ? What is your computer ? What is its Operating system ? For Windows machines, you can use Windows or other third party software to backup your files/data. We need more information before we can help.
Regards.

Hi,
Can use use it ? Can Windows Explorer see it ? If Windows can't see it, you may need to use WD tool to recover it.
Regards.

Hi Scherra,
Doing data backups is a really smart decision and the best choice is to be done on an external drive. However, WD10EADS-65M2B1 is a model number, referring to WD Green drive, which is an internal HDD. The Green line is designed for storage purposes, but is meant to be used inside the system. It requires SATA connection and power supply, meaning that it can not be directly connected to the USB. You may require SATA to USB cable or an external enclosure.
What is usually done with these drives is connect them inside the Desktop and copy your data on the drive. If you have already connected the drive but it is not working as expected, could you please describe me the issue, so that I can offer you further assistance.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

My external hard drive that I bought and connected for back up, is a "My Book Essential".....WDBACW0010HBK-00 3911D. I thought the WDC WD10 EADS-65M2B1 SCSI Disk Device was referring to it......can you tell me if that is correct?

The WD10 EADS-65M2B1 drive is the Hard Drive inside the My Book device. You can refer to the My Book (WDBACW0010HBK) as the enclosure of the Hard Disk Drive, plus the Hard Drive. So, one of the numbers is referred to the Drive inside, the other- to the drive and the enclosure together.
Did you manage to fully connect the My Book drive and do some backups?
