Hi:

There is nothing about a 35W limit.

There is supposed to be a 25W PCIe x 16 slot limit which I know that folks have exceeded.

All I am saying is that if HP says the slot rating is 25W on the SFF, I don't think it is a good idea to go way beyond that..

You can find the PCIe x16 slot wattage specs on page 18 of the quickspecs at the link below.

25W for the SFF, and 75W for the CMT

You can also use this handy power supply calculator which will help you decide what video card to get.

The basic tab calculator will probably be sufficient for your needs.

There is one forum member that put a Radeon HD 7750 low profile card in his dc7800 SFF, which has the same 240W P/S.

I think that is pushing it to beyond the limit but the person didn't seem to have any issues...

I run 8gb ram, Msi Gt 730(doesn't fit case but still works) 1tb 7200rpm Sata hdd, 270w psu, intel pentium x2 core 3.0 ghz. I should of gotten a smaller gpu because right now on csgo- it won't go past 75 in game fps due to the CPU being so short. Overall cost. 200$ for Hp compaq elite 8000. 80$ for mid gt 730. Is there a higher CPU to buy?

Hi, @Smiile :

Below is the link to the quickspecs for the 8000 Elite.  The supported processors can be found on page7 and 8.

The problem with installing a quad core processor is you will be adding 30 more watts over the E8400 processor your PC has.

I doubt going to the E8600 would be of much benefit.

If you are using the standard SFF power supply, it is 240W, not 270W.  (see page 2).
