I want to get a Core 2 Duo for this machine, but I want to get the best one I can since they are pretty cheap.  The motherboard has 946PL/GZ chipset with LGA775 interface and 1066Mhz FSB.  The HP documentation says that the fastest option was a Core 2 Duo E6700.... can I use anything faster than that chip?

Here is the Product description page for the computer.  Scroll down the page to a list of the processors that are supported by HP.  You can choose the one that you want to install.
