Using Win 7 64-bit on a Pavilion Model h8-2260t.   When trying out the functions on my new HP I find that the Fll key, which is vital when needed, does nothing.  Booting and constantly hitting the F11 key does nothing put produce a black screen. I had disconnected my external items before trying.   I let it set for 10 minutes hoping it would  respond.  Nothing happened.  If I should have to access the Recovery Manager, using the F11 key , it could not be done.  And of course disks are not normally provided.

Any advice or other actions to correct this problem.  Thanks.

Try tapping the F8 key to make sure that the function keys work, and also if the F11 key doesn't work its not an issue with the keyboard, it could be an issue with the partition on your system, as why you can't access the Recovery manager through the F11 key. If I was you I would also order a backup RCDS from HP directly, If you have those disc you don't have anything to worry about, even if your not able to log into windows.

I would recommend that if you are able to log into the windows, that you can access the recovery manager from the desktop. Once accessing the Recovery manager in your desktop, it will prompt you to follow onscreen instructions, and then you will be able to run the Recovery. And FYI you can create your own RCDs through the Recovery Disc Creation option.

Thanks for your response.  Right now there is not a problem accessing the recovery manager, thru Windows.  I am looking at the day that I can't do that and need the F11 as my only means.  Yes I have made the recovery disks.  I guess I thought there is something that could be done to "turn on" the F11 key.  I have used two different key boards.  That didn't help.  Thanks again.
