I currently have a HP Pavillion p6510f with the motherboard H-RS880-uATX.
With AMD's new FX series out, i was wondering if my motherboard with AM3 Sockets work with a processor with AM3+ socket compatibility. I read that with some AM3 motherboard BIOS, you can upgrade it to work with AM3+ Processors. Is this actually possible im my case or do i need to buy a completely new motherboard in order to get the AMD FX-8350 processor i want?
Thanks for any help.

Hi,
Stick with the processors listed under the motherboard specifications for your PC. The motherboard is AM3 rated for 125 watt processors.
HP Envy 17", i7-8550u,16GB, 512GB NVMe, 4K screen, Windows 11 x64
Custom PC - Z690, i9-12900K, 32GB DDR5 5600, dual 512 GB NVMe, gen4 2 TB m.2 SSD, 4K screen, OC'd to 5 Ghz, NVIDIA 3080 10GB

No, for the HP RS880 (785G) Aloe, fastest processor you can upgrade to is the Phenom II X6 1100T.
If you want to utilize an FX AM3+ processor, you'll have to buy a slightly newer AM3 or AM3+ motherboard that supports the FX AM3+ processors.
While an AM3+ processor is backwards compatible with the AM3 RS880 Aloe -- which means the CPU will fit in the AM3 socket, the HP system motherboard will not recognize and will not be able to utilize an AM3+ FX Bulldozer processor. Reason for this is that AGESA and CPU microcodes for FX AM3+ processors were not inserted in HP's BIOS update for the latest AM3 Aloe, and it goes without saying that HP will not continue to update the BIOS any further to support newer AM3+ processors. You'll have to buy a newer AM3+ Asus or Gigabyte motherboard if you want to run an FX AM3+ CPU.
HP Part Numbers: 612498-001 & 618937-002.
2nd Revision Aloe --- CPU compatibility supports Phenom II X6 CPUs up to the Phenom II X6 1100T (3.3GHz X6) [125W]
BIOS System Date: 09/7/2010 (Version 6.09)
BIOS Version: American Megatrends Inc. 6.09
Socket AM3 --- Supports AM3 (938-pin) processors --> Does not Support AM2+ (940-pin) -- AM2+ will not even fit in the socket -- don't even try --> will not recognize and can not utilize FX AM3+ processors
TDP Max -- Thermal Design Power Max less than or equal to 125 Watts
HP Models: HP p6510f, HP p6540f, HPE-300Z, HPE-570F, H8-1030...and so on.
HP System boards with HP Part Number: 612498-001 ---> may need to update to latest 6.09 BIOS.
