Hi Sparkles1:
Thanks for the input but neither links apply to my situation. Step 3 of the BIOS update requires the BIOS to have an option: 3. Use the arrow keys to navigate to File > Flash System ROM .
My BIOS doesn't have a FILE menu or a Flash System ROM option anywhere.
I've tried flashing the BIOS using AFUDOS (AMI Firmware Updater DOS) from a bootable USB stick with the ROM file extracted from the SP46442.exe BIOS file but I get an error stating "-Error: BIOS is write protected"
I can't use the recovery options either from DVDs or the recovery partition because I get the BSOD with the "BIOS not fully ACPI compliant" when Windows tries to load for the recovery process.
Any info on what to do about the BIOS being write protected would be appreciated.

Hi NGneer:
Thank you for your response.
I believe we have tried everything to recover the bios.
I am sending you a link to "Updating the Bios click here. You could try once more to update the bios.
Here is the link to the driver page for your HP Pavilion Elite Desktop m9340f click here.
HP recommends that you only do bios updates from the HP website.
The next step would be to have the computer repaired by replacing the motherboard.
