I've used Flashi.exe to amend the POST screen on a DC5700 for years.

As it's DOS based Is this a generic program that could be used on a HPG61 laptop's POST as well, and future HP Desktop PCs,  or is it machine specific, and if the latter, is there a version that will work on a G61 (at least)
