I have HP Support Assistant on my pc and last night I did updates and all and it showed there were no updates for or upgrades for drivers or anything. I did write down my Bios Revision Date V7.06  if that will help. It shows up on the black page each time turned on .  Do you think I still need to try the link you showed? I am 76 and not the wisest on fixing comuters. Thanks.

Hi @mamawfran

Thank you for posting back.

If you have the updated bios, then restore the bios defaults and check if it helps.

Check the below video on how to restore bios defaults.

I have not tried doing anything with the bios as I am just too nervous as I have had so many to say you can really mess things up if you are not careful I will try to get one of my grandsons that know a good bit about computers to check it out for me.

I sincerely thank you for your time and help. I can't mark as "accepted solution" as I don't know if changing the bios is my problem or not.

Thanks again and have a great day.

@mamawfran

It looks like you were interacting with @the_Fossette but he's out for the day

And I'll be glad to help you out.

Don't worry, I am with you and we'll handle the BIOS together,

It's not that complicated to be honest (the idea is to follow one step at a time and you'll be good to go),
besides this is the end of the line, I'm afraid if this doesn't work, you'll need to contact HP for further support as it would be considered a hardware failure with the CPU Fan,

Please use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect

Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"

Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone numberCase number and phone number appear.

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts,

Mark my post as Accepted Solution.

And click on the Purple Thumbs up icon at the bottom of my comment.

HI, I did what I got in an email and finally got a case number and since my computer is out of warranty, there was a big service charge.  I chose not to call. I do thank you two that tried helping me. I will just keeping using it as it seems to have no problem except the F1 Boot each time it is shut down. Maybe will have a visit from someone that can see about the bios, but don't think not. The problem started overnight..back in Nov. so I have wondered if I got some kind of update that caused it. Again, many thanks.
