If you mean the front panel pin connectors ,see post 161 in this thread for the m2n78-la mother board pins lay out, you will see it is the same as the Front Panel Connector: JFP1,  on page 2-13 in the manual for the MSI 785GTM-E45 Motherboard

OK so i got everything working with the new motherboard! Here is my rundown...

HP p6210f dead after 1 year

Replaced motherboard with asus m4a785-m ( fit perfectly in case) just have to change out the I/O plate

Got all my front panel wires connected... hddLed, pwrLed, pwrSwitch (just removed all wires from hp's connector and connected each individual wire, after identifying them) they go on pretty tight.

I Had to get a windows7 OEM disc for the installation (restore discs did Not work for me) And i tried the repair install a few times and the hp recovery console...

I did have to use microsofts automated phone system to get windows activated (it walks you through it after the install)

Lastly i will be posting a picture of the m2n78-la with a few crossbows through it and maybe a few .45  holes  🙂

good to hear pchelperdude.  I will eventually have to try to connect my other led wires someday but it doesn't bother me anyway.

How long did it take with microsoft?  I think you'll like the new MB it is sweet.  I think I got the last one from Tigerdirect lol.

Enjoy the demolition of your OLD "HP" motherboard.  😉

I had no luck with HP ...the best they would offer is 50% off of the repair/replacement.  So I picked up a Phenom II X4 on sale for 60 and the MSI 880GM-E35 Socket AM3 880G mATX AMD Motherboard .for 72 with a 15 dollar rebate..and 39 dollars for 8Gigs of DDR3 RAM so for  a little over 150 dollars I have a I have a completely upgraded machine. .. I will keep you posted as I have not completed the process. ..  Shame I had to go thru this though...

model: e9120y MB: M2N78-LA r5.0

SATA dead also. Will work for a few seconds if booted cold. I wonder how many people didn't bother posting or calling HP.

Just for kicks I plugged in a 10 year old **** computer, booted right up.

I also have the same issue Model P6214Y, went down the same path of thinking a bad harddrive (bought new one), then power supply (bought new one) then just the SATA controller (bought new one), then I found this thread 😞

I am 300 days out of warranty.  HP offered a new Motherboard for $299, then after saying unaccptable put me on hold and came back to offer me a 10% discount on a new computer.  Of course offering me less computer for more money than I paid for the existing one.

Have sent to the CEO and waiting for a response, we will see if there is any luck using that path before trying the new motherboard route.

Add me to the list, I feel so lucky. Pavilion p6214y, same problem doesn't recognize SATA HDD or DVD.  Bought a PCI Express SATA controller and booted to HDD but during Win 7 load kept getting the same blue screen of death.  Recovery doesn't load up so back to square one.  Tech line offered me a new MOBO or $199, what a bargain.  Tech also said no recall, first he's heard of the problem.  Complete denial by HP.  So disappointing that HP doesn't do anything about it.

ATTENTION:  Do not buy a SATA controller card for the motherboard problem in this thread. It will not fix the problem. I suggested it (on page 1) as a possible solution before it was determined that the Northbridge chip has an overheating issue.
