I went away for a few days and had my computer turned off. I unplugged my externals as well. I turned the computer off and it worked fine (it had been giving me a monitor cord error) and I was working on an upload when the computer shut off. When I restarted it acts like it is trying to find a cd or floppy drive (don't have a floppy drive). I found my recovery disk as it won't let me start in safe mode or any other mode. When it read it I got this message: No physical memory is available at the location required for the windows boot manager. The system can not continue. No idea how to fix this. I have an HP Pavilion running Vista.

Hi,

Please post the HP product number for your PC. How to Find the HP Model Number and the HP Product Number or let HP automatically find your PC model number and HP network attached printers.

VISTA?  It appears that you have an older PC. If the CMOS is not retaining the PC's configuration then you should try changing the CMOS battery. The useful life is about 5 years.  The battery will cost anywhere between $.49 and $4.

While the PC is open, use a can of compressed air to blow out  all of the dust from the fans, processor heat sink, graphics card if one is installed and the power supply.

Hi,

Disconnect all external devices except the keyboard, mouse and monitor.   Unplug the PC and hold down the power button for 60 seconds. Plug the PC back in and try to boot up.

Boot in the BIOS and make sure that your hard drive is recognized and that it is the primary boot device.

See if the following memory diagnostic boot CD will boot.  Download memtest86 iso file and burn it to disk using Imgburn.

Memtest86 4.20 plus USB installer.
