Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

The online specification for my p6600z desktop says inaccurate information about what ram can be used. It one sentence it says it uses ddr2 and in the other it says ddr3. I'm sure it uses ddr3 but I don't know what speed and the max amount I can install is.

From its specs, it uses DDR3 PC3-10600 RAM:

From your link, the motherboard supports:

  

  • Dual channel memory architecture
  • Two DDR3 DIMM (240-pin) sockets
  • Supported DIMM types:
    • PC3-8500 (DDR3-1066)
    • PC3-10600 (DDR3-1333)
  • Non-ECC memory only, unbuffered
  • Supports 2GB DDR2 DIMMs
  • Supports up to 4 GB* on 32 bit PCs

Therefore we can say it supports DDR3 PC3-10600 and max amout is 4GB (2GB on each slot as shown in red above).

I'm not sure how accurate that is though because crucial.com says I can put 8GB of ddr3 1600 or 1866.

The only thing that makes me second guess the information from hp is that it says ddr2 in one section which makes me think they are getting info from another computer.
