Hi Dutzone
I am sorry I could not be of more help.
I certainly would like to know why your original m/b would not accept 2 memory cards, damage to mobo or defective design ? I wonder howe many others have had the same problem with this model of PC aside from you and doerhli and if it is a design fault in mobo.

Thank you for your suggestion, but this link doesn't apply to my situation.
The OEM Vista is not loading because is not recognizing the new motherboard. Then, I can not go through all the steps mentioned in that link.
On the other hand, before I called HP support I went to Microsoft support website. They put you to choose what OS you have, means OEM, bought separately or so.
For the OEM OS they put you to contact the manufacturer, no support for this type of OS from Microsoft.
Now I am using an old XP version from a friend that is no longer use it. I am OK with it and thanks again for the suggestion.

Woodwood,
I think is mostly something went wrong with the timing of the memories.
With the new motherboard, this one says that my memories are 533MHz, although the MSDS from the manufacturer states very clearly that are 800MHz.
OK, probably the new motherboard can take just 533MHz from my original RAM.
With the old motherboard, Sandra showed me (you can check again one of my previous messages) that my RAM is of 400MHz. Definetly something went wrong with the RAM/motherboard compatibility, some timings were changed, I don't know why or how.
The new motherboard has the option in BIOS to see or change the characteristics of the RAM, and I can see the timings as well. They may be different from what the original/old motherboard was using.
What caused that I don't know, CPU is the same in the new configuration and seems too work just fine.
Again, I am not skilled in computers, the above are just suppositions of what I understood from browsing the net in the last 3-4 weeks since I am dealing with and try to fix this problem.

I have the same problem and I am still looking for an answer. In fact, I started a new thread:
