Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

You will need to remove the access panel on the side of the tower to confirm whether or not the CPU fan is spinning.

Instructions for doing that are on page 19 of the Maintenance and Service Guide: http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.oid=7633297&docLocale=en_US&docId=emr_na-c04...

The fan is shown on page 53.

Do NOT disconnect the fan while the PC is running, as that may cause the processor to overheat and burn out.

If the fan is spinning, then the fan sensor has gone bad, and it would cost a LOT to have that replaced -- so you could live with the message, or you could go into the BIOS, hardware advanced page, and see if there is an option to disable the CPU fan.

Good Luck
